Mid County

The Mid County Community Council (MCCC) is a diverse citizen advisory group maximizing consumer participation by identifying community strengths, trends, and needs; developing potential solutions; and advocating on behalf of children and families in Mid Pinellas County.  The MCCC members keep in touch with the community needs through gathering data and studying best practices; reaching out to community residents and agencies; involving youth and young adults through meaningful action and leadership roles; and providing information to the JWB’s Children Services Council Board Members. The MCC’s current work plan focus on : supporting the existing youth programming, such as the  Youth Arts Program, as well as the implementation of the Step Up Program, a new initiative in collaboration with the Sheriff Department for the Lealman Area with the subsequent expansion to the rest of mid county.   The MCCC  supports the collaboration of available community resources delivering comprehensive and long term services for children and families most in need. MCCC is a strong advocate of providing services at a centralized location with the appropriate follow up as a measure of the impact of services on these families. The streamlining model of these services for underserved areas supports the Children’s Zone and the Neighborhood Family Centers concept. The MCCC is also engaging faith based organizations in an effort to include these entities as part of the existing community assets. They are providing viable recommendations to the Family Promise of Pinellas County, a network of faith based organizations that coordinate host homeless families in the county.
