The mission of the Therapeutic Preschool Program is to provide early intervention services to pre-school children who are exhibiting emotional or behavioral problems. This is a school related program that targets children ages 3-5 who are placed in the Pinellas County School Board EH Preschool classroom and are identified by the school system as having mild to moderate levels of emotional behavioral disturbances. The primary goal of the program is to improve the behavioral and emotional functioning of the child so that the child may be able to function in a regular educational setting. The secondary goals are to help parents achieve an understanding of their role in their child's development and to help teachers achieve the skills and techniques needed to promote positive behavioral management in their classroom's. Program activities include in-home and in-school consultation, assessment, family intervention, family support and follow-up services. Services are provided to ten therapeutic preschool classrooms located in ten Pinellas County elementary schools: Bardmoor, Bellaire, Forest Lakes, Fugitt, Lynch, Northwest, Perkins, Pinellas Central, San Jose, and Safety Harbor.
