For the last six years, Trenia L. Cox has served as the Planning Manager of the Juvenile Welfare Board, Children Services Council.  As Planning Manager, her responsibilities included the coordination and oversight of the internal and external strategic planning process. She has been with the JWB for eleven and a half years; she has also served as a Contract Manager.

Ms. Cox has a master of arts degree in sociology with a specialization in criminology. Prior to relocation to St. Petersburg, she was the Director of Probationary Services of the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Court.  In that capacity, she re-organized the probationary system into a risk level system, which led to a cost saving in residential and foster care placements. She received a three-year appointment to the Michigan Juvenile Justice Commission; her term was abbreviated due to relocation to the Tampa Bay area.  She has thirty-one years of experience in human services of which twenty-six years were served at the managerial level. She has provided direct services to multiple populations including status offenders, teen parents, child abusers, dually diagnosed, mentally ill and juvenile offenders.

In her spare time, Ms Cox’s serves as a mentor and on the Executive Committee of the St. Petersburg Branch of National Association for the Advancement of Colored People addressing disparities in health, education and wealth.
